Getting your independent film distributed in theaters nationwide is no easy task. These screens are usually reserved for big-budget Hollywood productions that can afford massive publicity campaigns. For a little film made on a shoestring to be played side by side with tinsel-town’s best, it must have something very special about it. Directed by Byron Conrad Erwin and written by Scott Stamper and his wife, Rachel, Lynch Mob was produced for a fraction of traditional Hollywood releases, but it has anything but a low-budget feel. “Our storyline is original and the movie has the production value of a multi-million dollar film,” says Stamper.
Adds producer Frank Koretsky, a Douglasville-area real estate developer, “We’re so proud this movie was shot entirely in the state of Georgia. There’s so much local talent, and we wanted to showcase it. So many other horror movies were filmed in this state, like Cape Fear, The Blair Witch Project, The Deer Hunter, Halloween 2, Friday the 13th: Jason Lives, and Scream 2. Now, horror movie buffs can count Lynch Mob as a Georgian masterpiece of gore!”
Says John Cornetta, “My fellow producers and I can’t wait for opening night. We worked so hard on this film, shooting for nearly a month all over the state. The fact that our distribution company, Spry Brothers Films, secured placement in a nationally-recognized theatre chain is just an immense accomplishment and a testament to the hard work of everyone involved in this project.”
Friday night, September 18th was the Premiere Gala for First Cinema’s feature film debut Lynch Mob. Excitement was high as the crowd waited for the stretch limo that was carrying the film stars to arrive. Paparazzi were everywhere, and a red carpet entrance, complete with interviews with the Press were impressive. Many were thrilled with photos and autographs from the celebrity cast and crew.
After a few technical glitches, the premiere showing began, much to the delighted squeals of the audience. The patrons got their moneys worth in thrills and chills on the roller coaster ride that is Lynch Mob. As the theatre operator listened to the roars from the crowd inside, he said “You’ve got a hit on your hands!”
More than 150 guests packed the invitation-only screening, and the hush that fell over the audience as Lynch Mob began soon turned to screams of terror!
Agreed one reviewer on Fandango.com, one of the nation’s go-to websites for movie theatre ticket purchasing: “This movie is awesome it takes the zombie thing to a whole new level. It’s a great mixture of horror and comedy. it will have you laughing and on the edge of your seat wondering what’s next!” Another reviewer submitted this review of Lynch Mob, stating, “Very original story. Basically, a Fed witness ends up in a town full of cannibals. He comes up with an ingenious idea of how to not get eaten himself. Excellent, witty writing. If you like slasher movies, with a little bit of mobsters thrown in, you’ll like this one. Italian meatballs anyone?”
